FAQ

Microblading

How long does a treatment take?

Eyebrow Embroidery is a 2 step process- usually 35-70 days apart. This is very important to complete 2 visits.

The initial procedure takes approximately 2-2 1/2 hrs.

What happens during the treatments?

During this time, a consultation is undertaken, a colour tone chosen and initial outline of the procedure area is drawn on for you to approve. once you are is satisfied with the basic shape and symmetry, (please note that our faces are NOT symmetrical, as one side is flatter than the other), however as brow artists, we aim to create as much symmetry as possible. The area is then traced over, then the permanent pigment is applied with a hand held tool and not a machine.

The end result will depend on 50% pigment and 50% healing. We all heal differently, and what works on one client may not be effective on another. This is why a second visit it so important, it corrects any irregularities in colour tones, and makes the look permanent.

The second stage of the treatment is called a ‘touch up’, and takes approximately 2 hours. This usually happens after 30-60 days because it takes that long for the pigment to settle in the skin. It is IMPERATIVE you complete the touch up treatment, as without it, it will be a job half done and the results will ot be optimum. The touch up gives the client an opportunity to get used to the initial finish before a final touch up consolidates the pigment into the skin, thus preventing fading. Colour will have faded significantly in this 30-60 days as the skin heals, peels and fades. The look of the brows in the first 10 days will be very defined and no indication of the finished result.

How long can I expect it to last?

The brow is semi-permanent, so it will begin to fade after 12-14 months, even though its only gradual fading. In order to keep the look fresh, a ‘touch up’ is advisable every 18-24 months. More frequent touch ups may be required where a client chose a soft lighter shade initially, or clients who did not follow after care advice regarding sunblock etc etc.

Clients who dye their hair will understand that certain elements will make their hair dye fade faster, brows are exactly the same.

Semi permanent micro-pigmentation is not an exact science, so each client is different.

Does it hurt?

We take every precaution necessary to ensure the micropigmentation application is as pain-free as possible. A topical numbing cream is applied before the microblading process begins and is topped up throughout the process, which helps with pain management. The treatment can be slightly uncomfortable and some people are more sensitive than others to the treatment.

Following the treatment, the area can be a little sore for the first few hours, and then tender to the touch for a day or two.

How do you choose a colour?

We choose a colour together; selecting the best match for your skin tone, features and personal preference.

Pigments will be mixed to achieve a personalized colour.

Are semi-permanent eyebrows deemed permanent?

Technically, semi-permanent Eyebrow Embroidery procedure are considered permanent because the colour is implanted into the upper reticular part of the dermal layer of the skin and cannot be washed off. However, the pigment is implanted more superficially than a ‘ tattoo, so it naturally fades over time.

Eyelash Extensions

What’s all the hype!? Curious?
Eyelash extensions have become the latest ‘must have’ treatment in the beauty industry. growing ‘oh so’ popular in the past decade from your favourite A listers to the mom next door.

Eyelash extensions are the perfect way to accentuate your natural lashes. say goodbye to your mascara, clumpy lashes and racoon eyes. Wake up looking foxy and ready to go!

From bold and dramatic to soft and dreamy you’ll soon discover why so many women have fallen in love with this luxurious treatment.

How is it done?

Your eyes are cleaned and prepped. Then your lower lashes are taped down using a surgical tape. This secures the lower lashes and prevents contact to the adhesive.

With precise tweezers for separation lash extensions are individually applied to each natural lash using the highest quality adhesives.

Prep! What should I do for my appointment?

Do not curl your lashes and avoid wearing eye makeup the day of your appointment. Coming with clean eyes allows for more time to apply lash extensions.

What now? How do I care for my extensions?

It is crucial for the longevity that you avoid getting your lashes wet within the first 24-48 hrs. no showers, steam rooms, saunas, massages, tanning and sweaty workouts.

Also avoid all eye makeup during this time. It is recommended to wear minimum eye makeup as the oils from eyeliner and shadows can break down the adhesive. Do not curl your lashes and do not wear waterproof mascara. The wear and tear of your extensions can be summed up with common sense- do not pick or pull at your lashes, do not rub your eyes and watch your pillow time- tummy sleepers!

Are my natural lashes going to fall out?

Eyelash extensions when applied properly by a trained professional do not cause your natural lashes to fall out. Your eyelashes have a life span of their own as does the rest of the hair on your body. Your eyelashes are constantly growing and falling out we just don’t notice it as much because they are such fine hairs.  Eyelash extensions grow with your natural lash and will fall out with it as well. Don’t be fooled-once your eyelash extensions are removed you may feel like your eyelashes are shorter and less dense, this is because you are use to seeing yourself with the extensions on.

How long do they last?

It is recommend that you get a fill every 2-3 weeks to keep them looking foxy! however if you chose to not touch up your extensions will shed within 6 weeks.
Some factors in the longevity of your extensions include, the strength and health of your natural lashes, your life style and how well you care for your extensions.
It is common for highly active clients ie/ hot yoga, excessive sweaty workouts and also clients that work in extreme weather conditions (high and low temps) to require fills more often- usually every 2 weeks.

Pregnant?

Lots of women who are expecting get eyelash extensions. it’s one thing that keeps you looking beautiful even when you’re sleep deprived and don’t have the time, or just don’t feel like putting makeup on – it’s a beautiful ‘pick me up’. the adhesives are safe although are not tested on pregnant women as many products on the market are not.

PLEASE DO NOT BOOK FOR EYELASH EXTENSIONS IF YOU HAVE EXISTING IRRITATIONS TO THE SKIN SURROUNDING YOU EYES OR YOUR EYES THEMSELVES. PLEASE INFORM THE TECHNICIAN OF ANY PREVIOUS OR CURRENT ALLERGIES.
