What to Expect

The CoolGlide handpiece cools and soothes as it glides along your skin. When the pulse of light is delivered, most patients experience a mild pinching or warm sensation — similar to a rubber band snap. No local anaesthetic is typically required, though topical numbing cream can be arranged for sensitive areas.

Not sure if laser hair removal is right for you? We offer a “Test It Out” consultation — our experienced team will perform a small test patch so you can experience the treatment firsthand before committing to a full session.

Between sessions, you should not wax or pluck treated areas, but shaving is permitted. Most areas require 8-10 treatments, spaced 4–8 weeks apart depending on the body area and hair growth cycle.

Aftercare & Recovery

Immediately following treatment, the area may appear slightly red and swollen — similar to a mild sunburn. This typically resolves within a few hours. Three to seven days after treatment you may notice what looks like hair regrowth — this is the treated hair being shed from the follicle, not new growth. You’ll receive full aftercare instructions before leaving the studio, including sun protection guidance for any treated areas.

Yes. The CoolGlide’s longer Nd:YAG wavelength is specifically designed to be safe and effective across all skin tones — including darker Fitzpatrick types and tanned skin. This sets it apart from many older laser systems that were limited to fairer complexions. We’ll assess your skin at consultation to confirm suitability and set the right parameters for your treatment.
Most areas require 8-10 treatments for optimal permanent reduction. Hair grows in cycles — the laser targets follicles in the active growth phase, so multiple sessions are needed to catch all follicles as they cycle through. The number of sessions varies by area, hair thickness, and individual response. We’ll give you a realistic expectation at your consultation.
The CoolGlide handpiece cools and soothes the skin as it glides. When the laser pulse fires, most clients experience a brief warm or snapping sensation. Most areas are very tolerable without any anaesthetic. For more sensitive areas, a topical numbing cream can be arranged in advance.
Shave the treatment area as close to your appointment as possible — do not wax, thread, or epilate for at least 4 weeks prior, as the laser needs the hair follicle to be intact. Avoid sun exposure and tanning (including spray tan) for 2 weeks before treatment. Come with clean skin — no lotions, deodorant, or perfume on the treatment area.
